Care instructions

Rugs

The lifespan of a your rug depends partly of how you take care of the product. We have collected our recommendations regarding the care of your specific rug below.
  • Make it last longer
To minimize the risk of sun fading and uneven wear, it is important to rotate the rug at regular intervals so that it wears evenly over the entire surface. Avoid dragging furniture back and forth across the carpet and use furniture feet/wheel protectors under sofa and table legs. Vacuum your carpet at least once a week without using the brush on the nozzle.
Each rug is woven by hand which means there might be small variations in size and color. This gives every rug the unique look and character we love.
  • Wool rugs
A wool rug is easier to take care of than viscose and has a natural impregnation in their fibers.

    Stains and dirt:

If you spill on the rug, wipe up excess liquid as soon as possible. Don’t rub, then there is a chance on rubbing the stain into the fiber of the fabric. Treat the stain immediately with a slightly wet cloth with a small amount of soap. Just use a little bit of water and wipe carefully on the stain. Finish with some luke warm water and after a dry cloth. If you can’t remove the stain with this method, hand the rug in to a professional rug cleaning that perform flat drying.
  • Shaggy rugs
Due to its long pile and natural materials, ryamats have a tendency to let go of fuzz and after regular vacuuming, the fuzz decreases over time but will never completely subside. A Shaggy rug need a more thorough vacuum so that dirt there is deeper down in the pile disappear. Even if it doesn’t look dirty, make vacuuming a regular maintenance. Vacuum in the direction of the pile and lift the nozzle after every move. You can also turn the rug upside down and whip the backside so that dirt deep in the pile can come out.
  • Rugs made of recycled plastic

Our Recycle rugs are made out of recycled plastic bottles that has been melted down and spun into threads that are used to weave the rug. The rug has the same soft feeling as a wool rug and are very resistant against rain and therefor is very good to have outside.

    Stains and dirt:

Easy to clean and maintain, only use a damp cloth to wipe up stains.

  • Viscose rugs
Viscose rugs is beautiful with a delicate luster, you can use them to create a luxurious atmosphere. Viscose is a fragile material and is therefore not suitable where it risks being exposed to possible spillage. Viscose carpets may fuzz up at first, this will decrease with time but will not decrease completely.

    Stains and dirt:

If you spill on your rug you should wipe up excess liquid as soon as possible with a dry microfiber cloth and in the direction of the pile. Don’t rub, then there is a chance on rubbing the stain into the fiber of the fabric. Treat the stain with a suitable stain removal. Ask your nearest dry cleaner for an advice on what product to use. If you can’t remove the stain with this method, hand the rug into a professional rug cleaning that cleans with chemicals and that perform flat drying.
  • Cotton rugs
A cotton rug has similar characteristics that the wool rug and therefore has similar care instructions.

    Stains and dirt:

Remember not to rub the stain, just wipe up the excess liquid by gently pressing a dry microfiber cloth over the stain.
  • Jute Rugs
Jute rugs are woven slightly porous, and are best suited to places where you want a softer and more cozy feel, such as living rooms, bedrooms or dining areas. Jute is described as an environmentally friendly fiber, as it is biodegradable and recyclable. Due to the natural material, the rug has a tendency to fluff. The fuzz will decrease over time but will never go away completely.

    Stains and dirt:

As jute is sensitive to moisture, you should avoid soaking them. Vacuum often, shake and air to make your jute rug last a long time.
  • Rugs that fuzz
Almost all rugs will fuzz, some more and some less. During the first period of use the rug can fuzz quite a lot and is not a manufacturing fault. This depend of the rug being tufted and the material. Vacuum regularly and use a moist cloth to gather the fuzz, and it will decrease over time. Please note that it will never completely subside.
  • Sprouting
If a single tuft extends beyond the rug's surface, simply cut it off. Do not pull it.
  • Vacuum cleaners & Robot vacuum cleaners
When vacuuming rugs, it is important to check that the nozzle you have is suitable for vacuuming rugs. It is fine to vacuum rugs with a robot vacuum cleaner, robot vacuum cleaners are generally not as powerful as a classic vacuum cleaner so it may need more time for the rugs to be clean.

We recommend that you check what recommendations the manufacturer of your robot vacuum cleaner has regarding vacuuming rugs.
  • Pressure Marks
Heavy furniture can leave permanent pressure marks. Remember to rotate your rug frequently to minimize ize the risk of permanet marks.
