RUG SCHOOL
TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT RUG
Therefore, here is our rug school with sketches where you
can easily get tips on what to consider before buying a new rug.
The idea to use rugs developed over time for reasons such as
giving warmth to a room and to protect the floor against wear.
Rugs still maintain these advantages but have also become
important key pieces to any interior decoration. In addition
to the great assets of adding texture and color, there
are many other advantages that come with choosing
the right rug to your home; we have the firm belief
that a rug can truly transform a room.
Under the dining table, you want to be able to pull your chairs back and have them sitting on the rug. As for the dining table, the chairs should still be on the rug when you sit on them. The same thing goes for when you sit on the chairs around the dining table, the chairs should always be on the rug. Around 27 inches from the edge of the table should do the trick. |
The best place for a rug in a bedroom is underneath the bed. Why not have a cozy feeling under your feet when getting up in the morning? The rug should be 24 inches extra around the bed's sides. Your rug should be large enough that both the bed and a possible nightstand have all legs on the rug. But if that's not possible, an option is to choose a rug where at least two legs of the bed stand on the rug. Another option is to place the rug from the middle of the bed or further down so that the front of the bed is placed on the rug.HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT RUG FOR YOUR BEDROOM→ |
In a passage or hall that is more oblong, the rug is often exposed to too much traffic and it can easily increase the wear. In these rooms, we recommend the rugs in our Recycle Collection that are custom-made in size and are an extra durable material. |
TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT MATERIAL
This is probably the most important aspect when choosing a rug. Remember the requirements of the place where the rug will be placed, is it a rug in a hallway, a living room or a kitchen? It is also important to consider how space will be used, what kind of traffic it will receive and how much coziness you desire.
All rugs in our Viscose Collection and our Solid Viscose Collection are in 100 % viscose which overtime gets a fuzzy expression. If you wish for a rug with a slightly shiny and shimmery look together with a soft touch, a viscose rug is the one to choose. But remember, a viscose rug is more sensitive than other materials so have in mind not to place it in a high traffic area of your home, or in a room where people tend to walk with outdoor shoes. When a viscose rug is brand new it’s inevitable that fuzz appears on the surface when used. It’s, therefore, best to vacuum clean the carpet regularly. The fuzz will decrease after some time but will never cease completely.
In our Recycle collection, the rugs are made from recycled PET bottles. Melted bottles are used to produce a thread, which in turn is spun into yarn. The resulting handwoven rugs have the same look, texture, and softness as traditional wool rugs. These rugs are generally durable, easy to remove stains from, and even go well outdoors on a balcony or terrace.
COLOR AND DESIGN
Since a rug is one of the largest decorative pieces in your home, it should symbolize your style. But how do you know which color and design to choose? When considering this question, you should decide if you wish the rug to blend in your current style and has similar nuances and expression as the rest of the interior decoration. Or if you want to be bold and aim for a contrast to your existing furniture? Good advice is to choose colors according to the complementary colors theory, also known as opposite colors. Let the colors and design pick up the other details in the room to create a good balance. If you have monochrome furnishing and neutral colors, why not try an expressive rug with daring colors?
